Many thanks to the Guardian for featuring my fellow leaseholders and I in the leasehold nightmare challenges we found ourselves over the last 6 years. In this nightmare we have had everything - from low quality construction to fraudulent freeholder, incompetent managing agents who couldn’t care less, to even violence by the freeholder against a leaseholder. The managing agents (being paid with the leaseholders’ money but employed by the freeholder ) run deliberate maladministration and very creative accounting under the instructions of the freeholder over the years - for example in the 2023 accounts, it appeared as though the leaseholders collectively owed the service charge millions of pounds, and the service charge owed the freeholder millions of pounds. In 2024, following the administration proceedings against the freeholder Old House Group a 1-man company which was responsible for most of the issues, the freehold has been sold to a 1-man company (again). I am afraid this will be “To be continued”.
